Sampler Fragment

This tiny sampler is a reproduction of a small English sampler I found.  I've added the border, the name and the date to our model.  Purists may want to omit these from their stitching.  Our model is stitched on 40-count Pearled Barley from Lakeside Linens using Needlepoint Silks in:  913, 851, 693, 973, 331, 963, 122, 348, 131.  Stitch Count:  94 wide by 87 high.

Asenath Whitcomb, 1819

This is an exact reproduction of an early Shaker sampler.  Asenath was 25 when she stitched her sampler.  She was a member of the Canterbury Shaker Community.

Our sampler is stitched on 40-Count Double Pearled Barley from Lakeside Linens using one strand of Belle Soie from Crescent Colours in Chester's Blue.

Helen Bell's Multiplication Table

This is an exact reproduction of an 1821 Scottish Sampler.  Our model is stitched on 40-count Relic from Picture This Plus using Needlepoint Silks is 237 (three skeins needed) and 992 (one skein needed).  The stitch count is 288 wide by 177 high.  Special thanks to Lisa Roswell for stitching the model!]

Anna P. Fox

This sampler is a reproduction of a tiny sampler I found in Virginia.  Anna's sampler was stitched (to perfection!!) by Nancy Gray on 40-Count Meadow Rue using Needlepoint Silks in:  313, 693, 853, 854, 868.  The stitch count is 110 wide by 94 high.  the frame is available from Olde Colonial Designs.

This reproduction sampler is worked on 40 count Light Cappuccino from R&R using just two shades of Needlepoint Silks.  A DMC conversion is provided.  The stitch count is 210 wide by 202 high.  $12.00

This reproduction sampler is worked on 36 Count Sparrow from Birds of a Feather using just one shade of Needlepoint Silk.  The stitch count is 151 wide by 106 high and this wonderful frame is available from Primitive Traditions.  $8.00

Another reproduction sampler dated 1836, our model is worked on 40-Count Creme Brulee from R&R.  The frame is available from Primitive Traditions.  $8.00

My husband gave me this wonderful sampler for Christmas and it's hanging in my living room.  The reproduction is stitched on 28 count Creme Brulee from R&R using Needlepoint Silks.  The stitch count is 112 wide by 136 high.  The frame is available from The Brick Stitch House in Chambersburg, PA.  $8.00

Grace McGaa's Sampler

We have two versions of our sampler stitched.  The darker one most resembles the original.  We've used 32-count Sienna Night from Lakeside and 35-count Linen from Weeks Dye Works.  Needlepoint Silks used are:  835, 972, 851, 903, 292, 993, 341, 664, 588, 967, 912, 986, 323, 922.  The stitch count is 111 wide by 175 high.

Rachel's sampler was stitched on 35 Count Chocolate Truffle from R&R Reproductions using Needlepoint Silks in:  244, 587, 641, 647, 692, 872, 902, 903.  The stitch count is 228 wide by 293 high.

This was one of my very first designs!  Lydia was stitched on an old Green Mountain Linen, but Lakeside's Examplar would be a great substitute.  DMC flosses are used.

This was an old Chartmakers' design.  Our sampler was stitched on R&R's Antique Cotton using Needlepoint Silks in:  123, 125, 471, 643, 976, 643.
